As Mendix's chief technology officer, Johan den Haan leads the company's overall technical strategy and research & product development teams. Johan began at Mendix as a developer and quickly rose through the ranks to lead developer, head of research and development, and eventually CTO.

Johan has broad experience in model-driven engineering (MDE), specifically in designing and developing MDE tools and environments. Agile software development, model driven development, cloud deployment, platform-as-a-service, online collaboration software, and social interaction are key aspects of his work, which focuses on improving software development in a way that enables business agility at all levels.

Johan speaks regularly at technology events and is a renowned blogger on a range of topics, including PaaS, model-driven development, scrum, cloud computing and software engineering. He earned a Master of Science in Computer Science with a specialization in Information Architecture from the Delft University of Technology.

Mendix helps its customers improve their organizations and industries by providing the ability for them to build, manage, and deploy apps rapidly and at scale. More than 4,000 enterprises, including KLM, Philips, Royal DSM and University of Pennsylvania use the Mendix platform to build business applications to improve operational efficiency.
