Video: Satya Nadella's WPC 2015 keynote

At the Worldwide Partner Conference, Microsoft's CEO lays out his vision for Windows, the cloud, and mobile computing

Microsoft has used this week's Worldwide Partner Conference as a venue to show off innovative technology. While Windows 10 is dominating the headlines, both Microsoft and its partners (this being the Partner Conference, after all) are making moves in cloud computing, analytics, and even 3D holography. In the below keynote, though, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella offers a bird's-eye view of what to make of all this technology.

The speech is 50 minutes long and covers a lot of ground, but inasmuch as its thesis can be defined in one word, that word would be "empowerment." In the past, this has meant pushing for a PC (a Windows PC, that is) in every house, leaning heavily on desktop productivity (hello, Microsoft Office ubiquity), and "democratizing client-server computing," as Nadella puts it.

And now? We're in a "mobile-first, cloud-first world," and Nadella paints his vision of how Microsoft must pivot to address that reality.
