Blogging is one piece at core of Apple controversy

As the MacWorld Expo kicks off today, and the Apple devout typically await Steve Jobs keynote in which he unveils new products, the show this year is mired in controversy.

Apple issued subpoenas to, and, the goal of which is to force those sites to disclose the sources of information Apple claims was leaked.

But as the New York Times reports the whole issue has broader implications for the rights bloggers will be granted for protecting their sources, and comes at a time when the rights given to mainstream journalists are under fire.
