Video: iPhone 5's fingerprint scanner hacked already

German hackers have defeated Apple's new security measure, though it is a complicated process

Well, that certainly didn't take very long.

Coming on the heels of the revelation that Siri can be used to bypass the lock screen in iOS 7, a group of German hackers called the Chaos Computing Club is now claiming to have found a way around the iPhone 5's Touch ID fingerprint-scanning security system. As the video above states, the hack is a fairly complicated one that requires replicating a user's fingerprint, but it does point to a flaw in Apple's security setup. As one member of the CCC wrote, "Fingerprints should not be used to secure anything. You leave them everywhere, and it is far too easy to make fake fingers out of lifted prints."
