ISM updates Predictive Suite; Protection! v. 2.0 now shipping; and more

ISM updates Predictive Suite

Integrated Software Metrics (ISM) has released version 2.0 of its Predictive Suite, a software testing and quality assurance tool. Featuring Java support, version 2.0 includes line-level detection and highlighting of keywords; unique user generated metrics; updated engine delivering increased speed, intelligence, and accuracy; ability to mark a specific module as safe; and ability to mark a specific module as having an error from the main interface.

Protection! v. 2.0 now shipping

Protection! v. 2.0, a Java licensing framework, is now available from jProductivity. The tool lets you embed powerful license reading and validation code into the components and applications that you sell, preventing unlicensed use of your software. Version 2.0 includes complete Java 5 support; licensing schemas improvements including grace periods and usage-based expiration; enhanced and additional assistants to make common licensing tasks easier; and new Protection! Sales application designed for companies' sales staff.

AccuRev updates SCM solution

Version 4.0 of AccuRev, its software configuration management (SCM) solution, is now available, with enterprise integration, replication, usability, and performance enhancements. The company has also released AccuBridge, a new software development toolkit that allows organizations to more easily leverage the power of AccuRev with investments in existing applications, tools, and IDEs. AccuBridge for Serena TeamTrack has also been announced. This tool allows AccuRev customers to leverage their existing investment in issue management solution Serena TeamTrack to streamline development, increase agility, and improve team communication. In addition, AccuRev has announced support for Eclipse's Application Lifecycle Framework, a project that aims to eliminate problems associated with writing point-to-point tool integrations.

Advanced Installer for Java 3.7 now available

Caphyon has released Advanced Installer for Java 3.7, a Windows Installer authoring tool with built-in support for Java applications. This new version adds support for creating multilingual single-file installs, launching nested installs, and HTTP authentication and server-side license checks for the automatic updater.

Manning releases POJO guide

Manning has published POJOs in Action by Chris Richardson. This new book shows how to pick the right technologies and productively develop applications with lightweight frameworks and Enterprise JavaBeans 3.0.  It is a new-generation Java applications guide that teaches the new, easier ways to develop enterprise Java applications.

DataMirror releases PointBase 5.4

Version 5.4 of DataMirror PointBase is now shipping. The latest release of this SQL92/99 JDBC-compliant Java relational database includes new performance, functionality, and usability enhancements that make it easier for Java developers to accelerate development cycles and reduce development costs.

Industry leaders support Eclipse BIRT 2.0

Actuate, IBM, Pentaho, Scapa Technologies, and Zend have announced support for Business Intelligence and Reporting Tools (BIRT) 2.0 and/or plans to extend their Eclipse-based products with Eclipse BIRT 2.0 to meet their business intelligence and reporting needs. Eclipse BIRT 2.0 includes a new re-use library environment that is expected to expand the BIRT ecosystem through the creation of reporting component hubs developed by service providers, education providers, online portals, and news forums that will evolve around this platform.

Gurock Software updates logging tool

Gurock Software has released SmartInspect 1.3, an advanced logging tool for debugging and monitoring .Net, Java, and Delphi applications. Version 1.3 includes new features such as complete log levels and support for BDS and Delphi 2006.

OpenFusion RTOrb Java Edition now shipping

PrismTech has introduced OpenFusion RTOrb Java Edition, a real-time CORBA-compliant object request broker for the Real-Time Specification for Java. Version 1.0 supports CORBA 3.0 ORB, RT CORBA v1.2, CORBA object services, RT JVM – Sun Java Real-Time System v1.0, J2SE 1.4, and ORB interoperability including TAO and JacORB.

BREDEX introduces automated GUI test tool

BREDEX is now shipping version 1.0 of its new automated GUI test tool, GUIdancer. Testers using GUIdancer can create tests for programs written with Java and Swing without any programming or recording.
