The Watson contextual search software, released by Intellext earlier this year, is now available for free in an advertisement-sponsored version.
The free offering can be downloaded from the Intellext Web site at: http://www.intellext.com/free_download.html.
Users who want to avoid online advertisements and receive additional content services can purchase a subscription to Watson Professional, for $9.95 per month or $99.95 per year. A lifetime subscription (yes, lifetime) is also available at $199.95, in addition to a $39.95 per year maintenance fee.
Watson 2.2, the latest version of the search software, essentially examines what users are working on, and using that knowledge, proactively finds and delivers relevant information to them in the way of Web links related to text displayed, for instance, on Microsoft's Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Internet Explorer applications.
In September, Intellext announced the availability of Watson as an add-in package for Microsoft's MSN Search Toolbar application. At that time, the company required customers to purchase a subscription for either $10 a month or $99 a year. The add-in package is now also available for free at: http://www.intellext.com/watsonspecial%5Fmsn/.
