BMC Software has acquired DGI (Database Guys Inc.), a maker of performance management tools for IBM's DB2 Universal Database, for $3 million, according to BMC.
The acquisition strengthens BMC's SmartDBA data management solutions by enabling the company to more quickly deliver broader DB2 UDB distributed offerings, according to BMC. The company also gets the services of Scott Hayes, DGI founder and an expert on DB2 UDB performance management, BMC, of Houston, said.
DGI, of Spencerport, N.Y., has provided performance management tools for DB2 UDB on Linux, Windows, and Unix. The company's data management products have included Classic, providing DBAs with the ability to monitor and enhance DB2 performance in Unix environments, and Flight Deck, for performance optimization.
