AmberPoint on Monday is extending its AmberPoint SOA runtime governance suite to Tibco's new ActiveMatrix SOA platform and more application servers.
The 5.2 version of the suite features the AmberPoint SOA Management System and the company's SOA Validation System. These products provide services such as performance and availability monitoring and management as well as security and exception handling.
By supporting products from multiple vendors, AmberPoint can help users cope with mergers in which partnering companies use different technologies, said Ed Horst, AmberPoint vice president of marketing. "It's not uncommon for an enterprise to say, 'I'm going to standardize on WebLogic,' and they acquire a company that's standardized on WebSphere. Now what do you do?" Horst said.
Additional products that can be managed via AmberPoint's suite include ActiveMatrix as well IBM WebSphere version 6.0, BEA WebLogic Server version 9.2, and BEA WebLogic AquaLogic Service Bus 2.5, Horst said. AmberPoint also now can feed information such as performance and availability data to the Mercury SiteScope system monitoring platform.
ActiveMatrix incorporates AmberPoint management technology, but AmberPoint's products can provide additional capabilities such as dependency and exception management, according to Tibco officials.
