The Mac OS X Public Beta, nicknamed Kodiak, was an early beta version of Apple's Mac OS X 10.0 Cheetah operating system. Based on the first Mac OS X Server version, it was released to the public on September 13, 2000, for $29.95. It had major differences from the previous operating system, Mac OS 9, most notably the Aqua interface, the Dock, and the menu bar, all of which are emblematic of Macs today. (via the Mac Observer)
