3Com has completed the sale of part of its CommWorks carrier-equipment business to UTStarcom, the company said Friday.
With the completion of the $100 million cash deal, announced in March, 3Com is now a networking vendor focused exclusively on the enterprise market, the Santa Clara, California, company said in a statement.
Even though it sold the assets, 3Com maintains a license to all the patents and intellectual property transferred to UTStarcom, the company said.
UTStarcom is an Alameda, Calif., vendor of broadband, wireless, switching and 3G (third-generation) mobile telephony network equipment. The company aims its products at high-growth markets and has an initial focus on China, according to its Web site.
