Salesforce.com joins Liberty Alliance
Federated ID gets backing from online CRM vendor
Recommend ThisSalesforce.com became the 174th member of the Liberty Alliance this week. Membership in the Liberty Alliance sends a shorthand message to potential enterprise customers that the online customer relationship management software company, which sells no packaged software, will comply with what is becoming accepted industry standards for security and a so-called federated or single network identity. Salesforce.com will use Sun's Open Network Environment (ONE) Identity Server in support of the Liberty Alliance version 1.1 specification. Other Liberty Alliance member companies include Hewlett-Packard, Nokia, Novell, RSA Security, SAP, Sony, Sun, and Visa. Next week Salesforce.com will make a more significant announcement when the company launches its S3 CRM package in New York.
