Lenovo Group named new presidents for its Asia-Pacific and Japan operations on Thursday, continuing to pick up talent from rival Dell.
The world's third largest PC vendor appointed David Miller as its new president of the Asia Pacific region, and senior vice president of Lenovo, it said in a statement. The posting to Singapore will begin immediately. Prior to joining the Chinese company, Miller served as president of Dell China. He also spent several years as the head of Dell Australia, according to Lenovo.
The company also gained a new president for Lenovo Japan, Sotaro Amano, who will officially start on Sept. 1 in Tokyo. Amano worked as the corporate director for Japan Home & Business sales for Dell and managing director of Dell Miyazaki Customer Center.
Miller takes over for Ravi Marwaha, while Amano will succeed Hiroyuki Mukai for Lenovo. The company did not say where the replaced executives will go next.
Lenovo's personnel victory shows that rival Dell has yet to stem the tide of executive departures from its Asia Pacific operations.
Last December, Lenovo tapped William Amelio to become its new president and chief executive officer. Amelio previously worked for Dell as president of the Asia-Pacific region, including Japan, since 2001.
Another Dell executive, Foo Piau Phang, the president of Dell's Chinese operations until last October, took over as president and CEO of notebook maker Shenzhen Hasee Computer Co. in June. Foo, a Singaporean and respected PC industry veteran, is expected to help steer Hasee into international markets.
