Cisco revenue, profit rose in Q4

The networking vendor's revenue rose 18 percent and EPS grew 24 percent over the same quarter last year

Cisco Systems posted strong gains in both revenue and profit in its fiscal fourth quarter, which ended July 28.

The dominant networking vendor's revenue rose 18 percent from a year earlier to $9.4 billion while its earnings per share grew 24 percent to $0.31. Net income was $1.9 billion.

Not counting certain special items, Cisco earned $0.36 per share, one cent above the consensus forecast from analysts surveyed by Thomson Financial.
