News about the creator of the MySQL database, Michael "Monty" Widenius, leaving Sun Microsystems might be premature. Widenius told Computerworld Finland on Friday that he is still negotiating with Sun.
Sun bought the open-source database company MySQL, which Widenius co-founded, in January. Rumors about Widenius leaving the company have been circulating for some time and last week MySQL Vice President Kaj Arnö wrote on his blog that he had spoken with Monty, "and yes, resignation is an option he considers."

Widenius now says now that they are still looking for suitable position for him inside MySQL. "Anything can happen," he said.
Widenius believes that matter will be solved -- possibly next week.
