Google's Web search feature and sponsored links will be available on Amazon.com's Web site, thanks to an agreement the two companies announced on Thursday.
The deal will let Amazon.com customers search the Web using Google's technology without having to leave the Amazon.com Web site.
It will also give Amazon.com customers access to Google's AdWords technology, which allows advertisers to bid for placement on sponsored listings that appear alongside search results. For Google, the listing of sponsored links on Amazon.com will give broader exposure to their more than 100,000 worldwide advertisers, a Google spokesman said.
Amazon.com is the latest partner to include Google's Web search feature and sponsored links on its Web site. Other Google partners include America Online, Ask Jeeves, Earthlink and The Walt Disney, the Google spokesman said.
Google's Web search facilities will be implemented on Amazon.com in a few months, said Drew Herdener, an Amazon.com spokesman. The Google sponsored links are currently available on a few Amazon.com pages, he said.
Google has indexed 3.08 billion pages in its search engine, and customers perform more than 200 million searches on Google everyday, according to the company.
