Joe Grand designed the most elaborate Defcon badge to date with this 2007 model that features a user-programmable scrolling text display. Hackers can solder pins onto the board, connect it to a serial port and, with the correct software, upload new code into the badge to enhance its functionality. Advanced programmers and hardware engineers can even add a wireless networking chip and an accelerometer chip, to enhance the device further.
