"This November, on the second day of the show, we're giving attendees the option to dive deeper into SOA - with InfoWorld SOA blogger David Linthicum offering a daylong crash course on key SOA issues and Phillip Windley, a frequent InfoWorld contributor, simultaneously offering an intensive tutorial on SOA governance. Both Dave and Phil are experienced instructors who will provide a unique learning opportunity for registered attendees," said Eric Knorr, InfoWorld's executive editor and content chair for the event. "At the same time, we've pushed the main event to the next level, starting with our customer keynote speakers. InfoWorld Brings Back Industry Executive to Lead Event Sales Efforts

SAN FRANCISCO – Sept. 17, 2007– IDG's InfoWorld, the leading integrated media brand for IT Solutions Management, today announced that Dave Colford has been hired as Vice President, Business Development, Events. A tech media veteran who had previously been National Advertising Director for InfoWorld before holding senior positions at Primedia, Ziff and CMP, Colford returns to InfoWorld at a time when its events business is growing rapidly.

Working out of the company's New Jersey offices, Colford will work closely with Jill Martay, InfoWorld's vice president of events, and will report directly to Matt Sweeney, president and CEO of InfoWorld and Computerworld. He will oversee event revenue and continue to build on InfoWorld's model of developing integrated packages across face-to-face, online, print and research platforms that focus on a specific theme.

"In the past two years InfoWorld has been able to build an extremely successful events business around a unique model that focuses on emerging technologies like SOA and virtualization," said Sweeney. "With Colford leading the sales efforts for these events, we are positioned for continued success in this area and will be able to build out an events portfolio based on other leading technology categories."

Colford started his career in events at CMP in the mid-1990s. He later headed up the national sales effort at InfoWorld before serving as a group publisher at Primedia and then executive sales director in the custom solutions group at Ziff. In his most recent role as Director of Custom and Branded events at CMP, he was able to drive revenue growth of over 300% for their core events and launched their custom event business, which now represents a substantial portion of the company's event revenue.

"I'm very happy to be returning to InfoWorld and IDG at a time when the company’s events business is seeing unprecedented growth," said Colford. "My years in media have shown me that content is king when building a successful event, and InfoWorld and IDG are leading the way in this regard."
