Small businesses need the same sort of functions and support that large enterprises get -- just in smaller quantities. Microsoft has the formula exactly right in Small Business Server 2008, which bulks up the functionality and ease of use while boosting the affordability with an SMB-friendly licensing model. The result is an operating system -- and bundled mail and collaboration services -- that should make much more functionality available to many more small-business owners.
