Biographies
Wallace Dalrymple
Chief Security Strategist, Emerging Technologies, General Motors
Wallace Dalrymple is the Chief Security Technologist for General Motors’ Emerging Technologies Group, GM Information Systems & Services.
Wallace is responsible for identifying, evaluating and developing architectural recommendations for GM in Security technologies with the goal of identifying appropriate opportunities to insert those technologies into the mainstream of GM’s systems and infrastructure.
Before joining General Motors, Wallace held a variety of technology and leadership positions over his 18 years of Information Technology experience. Prior to General Motors, Wallace was Director, Telecommunications and Network Services with InterOne Marketing Group and had been the Mid-West Director of Technology for Comcast Cable.
Wallace holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree and a Master Degree in Business Information Technology graduating Summa Cum Laude from Walsh College. Wallace has earned multiple industry certifications including Certified Information Systems Security Professional. Wallace is a member of many industry Associations and a frequent industry conference speaker.
Doug Dineley
Executive Editor, InfoWorld Test Center
Doug is responsible for InfoWorld's product reviews and testing projects. In addition to overseeing Test Center coverage, Doug contributes to all manner of InfoWorld editorial initiatives and serves as content chair of Virtualization Executive Forum. He's been with InfoWorld since 1999, and head of the Test Center since 2003. He holds a bachelor of science degree in Business Administration from the University of California at Berkeley.
Bob Gill
Managing Director of Server Research, TheInfoPro
As Managing Director for TheInfoPro’s Server Sector, Bob leverages his over 25 years of experience in Information Technology as the industry source on server virtualization, blade servers, and operating systems - including Windows and Linux. Bob joined TheInfoPro in 2004 the Chief Research Officer, where he assisted in defining and formalizing TIP’s research process in addition to establishing the position and role of Managing Director. Prior to joining TheInfoPro, Bob spent 15 years in senior management and analyst positions with Gartner Group. As an analyst, his areas of expertise involved networking, operating systems, media management and rights technology, and security. His major accomplishments included the launch of a business unit that synthesized findings from statistically-driven quantitative market research, as well as technology and vertical market expertise. Bob's previous experience includes technical, development, sales, and management positions at AT&T, Western Electric, and Bell Labs. He also ran his own IT implementation consultancy, and was VP of Business Development for an IT VAR. Bob has a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Notre Dame, and a Masters of Science in MIS from Stevens Institute of Technology.
Drew Hiltz
Chief Technology Officer, Natixis Capital Markets, Inc.
Drew Hiltz is the Deputy Chief Information Officer at Natixis Capital Markets Inc, formerly IXIS Capital Markets. Natixis Capital Markets is part of the NATIXIS group formed in 2006 in the merger between the French banks, Groupe Caisse D’Epargne and Group Banque Populaire both of which are headquartered in Paris, France. Mr. Hiltz was previously the Chief Technology Officer for IXIS and had been Vice President, Information Technology for Greenwich Capital Markets, a primary dealer in US government securities. Mr. Hiltz was employed by Citicorp, Dun & Bradstreet and Mobius Management Systems, and has been work in technology for over 20 years the majority of which have been focused on financial services.
Mr. Hiltz’s responsibilities included day-to-day management of all aspects of the technology operations and systems development at Natixis CM. He is responsible for the proper deployment of technology for the Natixis trading environment including cost management and continuous availability of critical systems. Mr. Hiltz is a member of a number of Natixis’s management committees including Business Continuity Planning; Security; and Technology. In the past Mr. Hiltz has been directly responsible for strategic technology planning, application development, database design and support, delivery of real-time market data, communications and network administration, and systems administration on mainframe, Unix and Wintel systems.
A graduate of Fairfield University, Mr. Hiltz holds a Bachelor of Science in Finance and a minor in Biology. Drew was introduced to computers in 1974 while programming APL on a Honeywell mid-range computer system shared between the town high schools and the local university. Mr. Hiltz has received technology certifications from Epson, Apple, Sybase and Cisco; was an instructor in application development & database design; and has deployed application on a range of large and small systems. He has been a guest speaker for a number of technology groups and companies.
Robert Logan
Vice President, Enterprise Infrastructure Service, SAIC
Robert Logan is vice president for Enterprise Infrastructure Services in the corporate Information Technology Services for Science Applications International Corporation. He leads 145 engineers, operators, and project managers responsible for the wide area network, network operations centers, corporate data center and DR facility, system/database engineering and administration, enterprise messaging and directory services, and audio/video/web conferencing that support 44,000 employees at over 300 locations worldwide. Joining SAIC in November 2004, Logan’s comprehensive infrastructure upgrade efforts resulted in him receiving Computerworld’s Premier 100 IT Leaders Award for 2007 that honors the year’s 100 most accomplished IT leaders for their achievements in technology, innovation and management. Prior to SAIC, Logan was a career Marine Corps officer with extensive experience in operational communications, systems engineering, and program management. His final assignment was as Deputy Director of the Navy Marine Corps Intranet (NMCI), the largest IT outsourcing program in the world ($8.9 billion effort supporting 360,000 seats at over 2,000 sites). He holds a B.S. degree in electrical engineering from Washington State University, and a M.S. degree in electrical engineering and the post-master degree, Electrical Engineer, from the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California.
Kalyan Ramanathan
Director of Marketing, HP Software
Kalyan is the director of marketing for HP Software focusing on storage management and virtualization solutions. Kalyan came to HP through the Opsware acquisition. Prior to Opsware, Kalyan managed the CMDB product group at IBM. In a prior life, Kalyan designed chips for Intel.
Ron Rose
Chief Information Officer, Priceline
Ron Rose was named Chief Information Officer of priceline.com in March 1999. Under his leadership, priceline.com technology has gained a national reputation for superior technology execution. It has won the Network World Enterprise All-Star Award and Keynote’s Travel Agency Web Transaction Index Awards for speed and reliability, and is noted for its advanced availability architectures, as well as its innovations regarding Data Center efficiency.
Prior to joining priceline.com, Mr. Rose was Chief Technology Officer for Standard & Poor’s Retail Markets. At Standard & Poor’s, he chaired the internet technology architecture committee, and led many of the company’s most advanced technology initiatives including: Xpresso, the industry’s leading Java financial desktop application; Xpressfeed, one of the most extensive Linux deployments in the financial sector; and several S&P websites.
Before joining Standard and Poor’s, Mr. Rose was an entrepreneur, leading two successful technology startups that focused on telecommunications and CRM support for Sales Forces.
He started his career working on high performance TPF transaction systems, and advanced travel agency systems at Delta Airlines. As an international technology management consultant he has managed IT projects in the UK and Taiwan for the Galileo CRS and British Airways. He is also a published technology author.
Ron has a Masters in Information Technology from Georgia Tech, and holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Tulane University and the University of Aberdeen, Scotland, UK.
Ed Simcox
Director of Information Services, Clarian Health Partners
Edwin J. Simcox, Jr. (“Ed”) holds a B.A. degree from DePauw University and obtained a J.D. degree from Indiana University School of Law. He is the Director of Information Services at Clarian Health Partners in Indianapolis. As the executive responsible for several technology and business-improvement projects, Ed has played a key role at Clarian in reducing IT costs while improving patient and clinician satisfaction.
Ed was the executive sponsor for Clarian’s first-ever client technology refresh effort, which yielded $5 million in hard-dollar savings. His teams’ projects will yield more savings and higher internal customer satisfaction over the next 18 months. He also manages the strategic relationship with Clarian’s large IT vendors. He chairs two of Clarian’s five IS governance bodies.
Ed also consults with companies looking to improve their client computing strategies and execution. He is involved with the following organizations:

Jack Wilson
Enterprise Architect – Assistant Vice President, Amerisure Mutual Insurance Company
Mr. Wilson has been in the IT industry for 30 years and has owned his own consulting firm as well as a being a principal at Ernest & Young. His experience has included a number of companies and has spanned the insurance, finance, transportation, software and health industries in the United States and Europe. The depth of his experience includes system development, database administration and for the last decade architectural strategy, design and implementation.
Mr. Wilson started with Amerisure Insurance in 2004 as their first Enterprise Architect and has acted as a change agent in that organization to bring about a significant transformation, moving the company forward with a comprehensive virtualization strategy. The early and tangible success of these efforts have created a momentum for driving this strategy broader and deeper across the organization.
Chris Wolf
Senior Analyst, Burton Group
Chris Wolf is a senior analyst for Burton Group's Data Center Strategies service. Wolf provides Burton Group's enterprise clients with practical research and advice about server virtualization, data center consolidation, business continuity and data protection. He authored Virtualization: From the Desktop to the Enterprise, the first book published on the topic, and has published dozens of articles on advanced virtualization topics, high availability, and business continuity. Chris has logged over 14 years in the IT trenches and has focused on enterprise virtualization since 2000.
