Citrix XenDesktop 4 Feature Pack 1 is expected to be available this week. According to the company, it will be offered as a free upgrade to all XenDesktop customers with current Subscription Advantage agreements.
For those folks who may be either struggling or still on the fence with their own desktop virtualization initiatives, Citrix and Microsoft have teamed up with two special promotions to try and push folks to cutting a check. The first is called the "VDI Kick Start" promotion, which gives Microsoft customers with Select or Enterprise Agreements the opportunity to save more than 50 percent on a VDI solution. This offer ends on June 30, 2010.
The second promotion is called "Rescue for VMware VDI," which goes right at the heart of the virtualization giant. This promotion offers existing VMware View or VMware VDM customers the chance to trade in as many as 500 of their licenses for Citrix XenDesktop VDI Edition and Microsoft VDI Suite at no additional cost.
With all these latest product enhancements and special promotion offers being thrown around, it sure looks like a great time to start deploying a VDI initiative.
