Cisco Systems agreed to buy IronPort Security, a developer of e-mail and Web security products, for $830 million, according to media reports citing Cisco executives.
IronPort offers a range of appliances that enterprises use to protect their networks from Internet threats. Its appliances also help secure e-mail services for ISPs.
In addition, IronPort sells a security management appliance that offers enterprises a single location to manage, store and monitor corporate policies.
The acquisition of IronPort is expected to close in July, the reports say.
