Adobe users claim file corruption after OS X 10.5.3 update

The latest update to OS X Leopard is causing file corruption when Photoshop and InDesign users try to save files to a network drive

Users of Adobe's Creative Suite 3 software are complaining that files saved to network volumes are being corrupted, and have linked the problem to their recent update to Mac OS X 10.5.3 Leopard.

Adobe users posting to Apple's discussion boards indicate that files saved from Photoshop and InDesign over the network then can't be opened. Some users indicate that downgrading to Mac OS X 10.5.2 fixes the issue. Others suggest using Save As to save a copy of a file instead of Save to remedy the issue.

Mac OS X 10.5.3 was released on Wednesday and reportedly fixes 70 issues with Apple's Leopard operating system. Apple lists changes online. including improvements to security, changes to how the operating system software logs in to certain network volumes and manages network passwords, and more.

Adobe, for its part, told users a year and a half ago not to work on files stored over networks "because of potential file corruption." Adobe laid the blame squarely on Apple, saying that Apple had changed AppleShare components in the then-current Mac OS X 10.4.6 release.
