InfoWorld's Test Center picks the best open source productivity software and mobile tools of 2011
If you've ever wanted to capture video from your Windows desktop for a demonstration but despaired at having to shell out hundreds of dollars for a suitable program to do it, CamStudio may be your solution. It records input directly from the desktop to video files, and it can record everything from the entire desktop to a constrained rectangle defined by the user, which optionally follows the cursor. The resulting files can be rendered to a Flash-compatible video format for easy embedding in Web pages. Note that the newest version, 2.6, has been under wraps for some time, but its current beta works well and the existing 2.0 version is solid.
