InfoWorld's Test Center picks the best open source software for agile infrastructures in 2011
The WSO2 middleware stack continues to move forward, trotting out major enhancements to the ESB and Governance Registry components this year. The ESB, now based on Apache Synapse, is demonstrating impressive performance gains. The overall framework has been buoyed by a new distributed transaction manager with onboard Java Transaction API support -- JTA plug-in no longer required. The project has also made strides in security and user management, employing the ApacheDS directory server and SAML for single sign-on. Add to the mix options such as complex event processing and a new private, platform-as-a-service edition, and WSO2 remains one of the richest -- and best managed -- open source projects today.
