InfoWorld's Test Center picks the best open source software for agile infrastructures in 2011
Talend Open Studio
Although there was no major release from Talend this year -- version 5 is on the horizon but not ready for prime time -- Talend Open Studio remains the undisputed leader in open source data management and integration. Although most of the improvements this year pertained to growing and assimilating Talend's own ESB, the addition of an XML data mapping application is a boon to anyone working XML docs into their data flows, and the Bonita plugin builds a bridge to open source BPM. Talend's many onboard wizards simplify setup, while new tools for data quality analysis are must-haves for master data management. With strong provisions for business modeling and ETL, and even native support for Apache Hadoop, Talend scales to enterprise heights with ease.
