InfoWorld's Test Center picks the best open source applications of 2011
Bonita Open Solution
Bonita Open Solution takes our prize for open source business process management this year. While rival Intalio focused on advancing an enterprise cloud initiative, Bonitasoft continued to polish up the BPM. The company has done a nice job of improving its designer with features like whiteboard-style process modeling. In addition to enabling rapid, coding-free modeling, the designer speeds up Web app creation with built-in process simulation - no need to leave the tool. Bonita supports BPMN2 and BPEL workflow with a good range of features to automate, monitor, and optimize your processes. Although activity monitoring is still light, an abundance of connectors lay the groundwork for integrating most database and messaging solutions. Good reporting facilities and dashboards round out a nice open BMP solution indeed.
