uSocial to sell Twitter followers

Pay £53 get 1,000 followers

Members of the micro blogging service Twitter can now purchase followers from uSocial.

The Australian marketing firm said web users will be able to purchase block of followers ranging in size from 1,000 to 10,000 with prices starting at US$87 (£53).

uSocial scours Twitter and identifies the subjects users are interested in. The company then sends members a message telling them about potential accounts they might like to follow.

"It's up to the user to follow them or not," Leon Hill, chief executive of uSocial, told the BBC. He added that uSocial continues to look for followers until the numbers purchased have signed up.

Hill said around 150 customers have already purchased blocks of followers and they ranged from a yoga teacher to religious organisations.

"It's an excellent marketing medium," Hill said.
