Working with e-mail
Both the iPhone (left) and Motorola Droid (right) display e-mail messages in lists. On the iPhone, account lists are separated, meaning you must navigate from one e-mail account to another to view all your messages. The Droid lets you view e-mail in your choice of separate lists or a combined list. Only the iPhone lets you search messages -- a major omission on the Droid. Tapping the top of the iPhone's Mail app jumps you to the top of your message list; the Droid has no equivalent shortcut.
Both the iPhone and Droid let you select multiple (including nonadjacent) messages for deletion, but only the iPhone can select and move multiple e-mails to a folder. The iPhone also lets you use a horizontal swipe to delete individual messages; the Droid requires you select a message and use a menu command or a keyboard shortcut. But only the Droid lets you mark selected messages as read or flag them through stars.
The Droid's support of Microsoft Exchange is limited: It works only with Exchange servers that have no ActiveSync policies set. NitroDesk's $10 TouchDown app can connect the Droid to Exchange, but it does so by inaccurately reporting ActiveSync support to the Exchange server.
