The HTML5 specification may be in draft form for a few years more, but several sections of the draft standard are already deployed in the Apple Safari, Google Chrome, and Mozilla Firefox browsers, with Microsoft Internet Explorer 9 joining the HTML5 train soon. Web developers can get experienced with HTML5 today, even use it in their websites.
