Dell drops Computer, in name only

New name reflects expansion into services, other products

Dell still sells computers, but the company's new name, formally decided at the annual shareholder meeting Friday, reflects expansion into services and other products, such as printers, the company said in a release.

The name change from Dell Computer Corp. is effective immediately.

Three directors, Michael Miles, Alex Mandl, and Morton Topfer, were re-elected to Dell's board at the meeting, held in Austin, Texas. Shareholders also agreed to implement a performance-based compensation plan for Dell executives.
