SpringSource, developer of the popular Spring Framework for Java development, on Tuesday will release SpringSource Tool Suite (STS) 2.0, an Eclipse-based platform for building Spring-powered Java applications.
The platform speeds development, dictates best practices, and assists with solving runtime problems, SpringSource said. Featured in version 2.0 are Project Creation Wizards, a forms-based Spring Configuration Editor, Spring Configuration Auto-Discovery, and Bean Creation Wizards, the company said.
[ Last week SpringSource offered upgrades to the Groovy dynamic language and Grails Web application framework. ]
STS 2.0 also includes tools to deploy modular applications on the SpringSource dm Server application server, which supports OSGi-based applications. An OSGi console also is featured in the suite
“SpringSource Tool Suite provides high-productivity tools for building Spring applications that run on application server platforms from SpringSource, IBM, Oracle, and JBoss," said Shaun Connolly, vice president of product management at SpringSource, in a statement released by the company.
STS 2.0 will be available for free for a 90-day evaluation via a download. Customers of SpringSource's Enterprise, dm Server and tc Server get unlimited access to STS 2.0.
