The Object Management Group adopted the CORBA to WSDL-SOAP Interworking specification in November.
According to OMG officials, the specification is intended to boost interoperability between CORBA and Web services applications.
"This maps CORBA invocation and lets you convert [it] into a standard way to WSDL and SOAP," said Jon Siegel, OMG vice president of technology transfer.
A complementary specification, WSDL-SOAP to CORBA Interworking, which converts WSDL and SOAP to CORBA, is expected to be adopted in a couple of months.
"Once that gets adopted, then the interworking between CORBA and Web services will be complete," Siegel said.
