Microsoft on Monday unveiled Microsoft SDK for Facebook Platform, enabling use of Microsoft technologies such as Silverlight and Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF) in conjunction with the Facebook social platform.
Accessible for free, the SDK combines Web, client, and social technologies and is part of an ongoing collaboration between Microsoft and Facebook, according to a Monday posting on the Microsoft Silverlight blog.

"No matter what your application flavor is, the Microsoft SDK for Facebook Platform supports the development of applications across Silverlight, WPF, ASP.NET, ASP.NET MVC, and Windows Forms, enabling easy consumption of Facebook services delivered through the Facebook Open Stream API," the blog post states.
The SDK contains samples, controls, templates, and help documentation.
Since Facebook opened its API to third parties in April, Microsoft has been working to provide developers with the option to build Facebook applications Silverlight and WPF, a Microsoft representative said. The SDK enables developers to leverage the Web and Facebook to build new ways for users to share information and stay connected online, the representative said.
