JetBrains this week unveiled an upgrade to its IDE for developing Ruby and Ruby on Rails applications, adding more code refactoring capabilities.
The upgrade, RubyMine 2.0, is free to previous users of RubyMine under the company's policy to provide one year of updates. Version 2.0 offers improvements in refactoring for Ruby code and support for Rails project specifics. A set of tools for code changes in software projects
"In releasing RubyMine 2.0, we focused on bridging existing gaps in technology integrations. In terms of supported frameworks and tools, the IDE now does a much better job of meeting the needs of today's Ruby on Rails projects," said Dmitry Jemerov, RubyMine lead developer, in a statement released by the company.
Version 2.0 is based on the open source IntelliJ Platform. JetBrains is best known for its IntelliJ Idea Java IDE.

A commercial license for RubyMine 2.0 costs $99 and features one year of updates.
With this release, JetBrains switches to its own issue tracker, YouTrack, for handling RubyMine feature requests and bug reports.
