Sun Microsystems on Friday announced a free preview version of the NetBeans Enterprise Pack 5.5, Java development tools for Apple's Mac OS X that enable developers to quickly create service-oriented architecture (SOA) applications that run on both Power PC and Intel-based Macintosh systems.
The NetBeans Enterprise Pack includes a preview version of the NetBeans 5.5 IDE, as well as a preview release of the Java Platform, Enterprise Edition 5 application server platform.
In other news, Sun announced it has released the Java Web Services Developer Pack 2.0 (Java WSDP), featuring advanced Web service technologies that will be included in upcoming versions of the Java Platform.
The Java WSDP is an integrated toolkit that enables developers to speedily implement, debug, and deploy Web services. This release provides greater Web services application security and offers next-generation Web services through JAX-WS 2.0 EA, JAXB 2.0 EA, and SAAJ 1.3 EA technologies. Java WSDP 2.0 also includes JAX-WSA 1.0, which is Sun's implementation of the WS-Addressing specification.
