Attachmate puts connector on mainframe

myExtra Smart Connector takes advantage of mainframe performance, security

Attachmate on Monday detailed a mainframe version of its myExtra Smart Connector.

Whereas the company's previous versions connected to mainframe and legacy systems but only ran on smaller servers, this latest version actually runs on mainframes. Running on the mainframe boosts performance, and gives the software better transaction access, to systems such as CICS, and more flexibility, including two-phase commit. myExtra Smart Connector on the mainframe also brings Web services to mainframes and takes advantage of the security and QoS (Quality of Service) typically associated with mainframes.
