AmberPoint touts graphics in SOA management pack

Dashboards, Macromedia Flash are leveraged

Amberpoint is enhancing graphical capabilities in its management system for SOAs (service-oriented architectures) and Web services.

Improved dashboards in AmberPoint 4.3, which is available now, are intended to provide for a better understanding of system performance and enable users to pinpoint trouble areas. Macromedia Flash technology is leveraged in the new release for real-time reporting.

Graphical functionality in Version 4.3 provides portallike capabilities and eliminates the need to code to make changes.

AmberPoint is attempting to leverage its user interface capabilities as an advantage, an analyst said.

“In AmberPoint’s case, their user interface, in particular their enhanced SOA dashboard and visualization capabilities, are leading the pack,” said Jason Bloomberg, a senior analyst at ZapThink.

Registry-driven dashboards in AmberPoint 4.3 integrate with UDDI registries from various vendors and can pull data from multiple registries, automatically updating when there are changes.

To improve ease-of-use, AmberPoint 4.3 enables users to click interesting elements to get more detailed information.
