When Facebook fails, everybody hears about it -- we like to call it 'social sharing.' Here are some of its biggest failures
Facebook springs a leak
In May 2010, the Wall Street Journal reported that Facebook was inadvertently leaking user's personally identifiable information to its advertisers -- in violation of its own privacy policies. Facebook fixed that problem, only to encounter another one a few months later when (again) the Wall Street Journal revealed that the top Facebook apps were also hoovering up user data -- once again violating Facebook's published policies. Leaving all of us to wonder, at what point do inadvertent data leaks become plain old advertent data leaks?
