A memo from MPC Corporation

An internal memo reveals bad news about MPC Corporation's reorganization process

A Gripe Line reader forwarded the following memo about MPC to me last night. There is no announcement on this at MPC's Web site (yet), and my e-mails to my contact at MPC on this -- or any -- message have, so far, gone unanswered. Nor can I find any news announcements about this. So I have no additional confirmation. This memo -- from a sales rep to his customers -- is full of potentially very useful information for all of you affected by this MPC situation. So here is the memo as I received it, with some more personal regrets from the author to his customers removed:

"Today, all MPC employees were informed that the Chapter 11 proceedings and reorganization process have failed. MPC has now filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy and liquidation.

"We only have two days to e-mail our customers before they turn us off. Even though we are officially no longer employed as of today. Our phones will also be shut off on or by Wednesday.

"They gave us very little information. Here is what we know:

  • All shipments of orders and RMAs have stopped.
  • The status of information on RMAs and shipments has stopped.
  • Customers will be contacted over the next 6-8 weeks by the liquidation and teams to settle open invoices, etc. All returns will also be settled with these teams.
  • Customers seeking replacement parts are encouraged to try to find them from any other possible source.
  • The original OEM partners who manufactured our servers, storage products, and all laptop and tablet PCs should now be more helpful and willing to work with our customers. However, they will sell only parts and services and also charge for shipping. This is part of their get-well plan to overcome their substantial losses.
  • All service and support lines and support Web sites for MPC are being shut down today.
  • If you have a system that is in depot repair, those items are being set up for return. It is likely that these systems were not repaired. Also, the depot company is demanding COD delivery charges for return to our customers. (Unbelievable.)"

I will, of course, post anything new I hear. If you have any information, please send it so I can share with other readers.
