Rational reports record Q3 earnings, banks on Linux By Michael Lattig January 12, 2000 3:13 pm PT Pointing to the momentum behind the Internet as the key contributor to its success, Rational Software on Wednesday announced record third quarter earnings and revealed plans to expand its support for Linux development.
In addition to announcing its Q3 earnings, Rational expanded its commitment to Linux by announcing that it will work with Intel to port Rational's e-development solution to Linux64, Monterey64, and 64-bit Windows 2000 all running on the forthcoming Intel Trillian processors. The move, according to Levy, is designed to put Rational in a position to be the default platform for Linux as it evolves from a deployment platform to a development platform. "We think we're clearly leading the charge here," Levy said. Levy also announced that he will become the CEO of Catapulse, a business-to-business application service provider that was spawned out of Rational, in addition to retaining his position as chairman of Rational. Though Catapulse is still in stealth mode and not revealing any plans, Levy said that the company is already on the path to becoming one of Rational's most strategic business partners. Rational Software Corp., in Lexington, Mass., is at www.rational.com. Michael Lattig is an InfoWorld senior writer. RELATED SUBJECTS SPONSORED WHITE PAPERS
