GlobalCenter, a Global Crossing company, this week plans to launch its global Commerce Service Strategy, which is intended to ensure business availability and scalability for Internet-commerce applications that are based on an outsourcing model. Services include connectivity, data centers, "on demand" utility applications, and professional services. Applications to be unveiled this week include tape storage, backup, disaster recovery, performance monitoring tools, and global content delivery services powered by Akamai's Free.Flow. Services are provided over the Global Crossing Network, an extensive fiber-optic network that serves five continents. GlobalCenter Inc., of Sunnyvale, Calif., is at www.globalcenter.net.
