Smart Scopes let you search various online sources via the Dash in Ubuntu 13.10. This feature has caused some privacy concerns among Linux users.

Here's how you can disable Smart Scopes in Ubuntu 13.10.

1. Go to Settings.

2. Go to Security and Privacy.

3. Click on the Search tab.

4. Click the “Include online search results” toggle to move it to the off position.
