Siri Leaves Beta
9to5Mac is reporting that Apple has removed all references to Siri being a beta in advance of the release of iOS 7. This is good news, I'm happy to see it. I've been using Siri in the GM release of iOS 7, and it's much more useful than it was previously.
With iOS 7, Siri has been given a redesigned user-interface, new functionality, and all-new voices. Many of the server errors and lengthy processing time issues that riddled the product in its early days have now disappeared; and it seems that Apple agrees. With the upcoming launch of iOS 7, it appears that Apple will finally be taking Siri out of “beta.”
Late this past week, Apple updated its Siri webpages to drop all references to the product being in beta.More at 9to5Mac
Apple Silent on iPhone 5C Preorders
CNet is reporting that Apple has been silent about iPhone 5C preorders. As usual people seem to be overreacting to this, convinced that Apple is hiding bad numbers. It's much more likely that they are waiting for iPhone 5S sales to begin before commenting about the sales of both devices.
For the first time since the 2009 introduction of the iPhone 3GS, Apple appears to be keeping quiet on just how many devices it presold in the first 24 hours. In the past, the company has published the first-day figures in an early-morning press release on the Monday following the Friday start of sales.More at CNet
Rumor: Apple iPad and Mac Event October 15
Apple is rumored to have another event planned for October 15 to showcase the new iPads and Haswell-powered Macs, according to Apple Insider. I'm looking forward to this as I've been considering a retina iPad mini. I'm quite curious to see what Apple has come up with in the next iteration of the iPad.
Mid-October could very well see the introduction of a new line of iPads, if reports from French site MacGeneration are to be believed. This latest rumor also posits that Apple could take the opportunity to introduce new, Haswell-powered versions of several of its Mac desktop and notebook devices.More at Apple Insider
