Using the keyboard instead of your mouse or trackpad can make navigating through the menu bar faster and easier in OS X Mavericks.

1. Press Control and F2.

2. The apple icon in the menu bar will be selected.

3. Move through the menu bar by using your arrow keys.

4. Hit the Enter key when you want to select an option in the menu bar.

Note that you might need to hit the Function key (fn) before hitting Control and F2 if your Mac is using the function keys for brightness and other functions.
