Microsoft provides Project Server 2003-SAP link

Kit lets users easily link Microsoft's project management offering with SAP's ERP product

Microsoft Corp. on Wednesday made available a connector kit that allows users to easily link Microsoft's Office Project Server 2003 with SAP AG's ERP (enterprise resource planning) products.

The new SAP Connector Starter Kit for Microsoft Office Project Server 2003 will be available at no charge from Microsoft's Web site, the Redmond, Washington, software maker said in a statement.

Microsoft released Project Server 2003, the server component of its enterprise project management offering, late last year. At launch, Microsoft also touted the product's capabilities to connect with ERP systems, allowing project managers to access all kinds of data used in handling projects.

The SAP Connector contains a sample application that customers and partners could use to synchronize SAP human resources and finance data with Project Server. It also includes source code and documentation that offers guidance for connecting Project Server with back-end systems, Microsoft said.

The SAP Connector is one of several "Solution Starters" that Microsoft offers for Office Project Server 2003. More information on the add-ons for Project Server is available at:
