Cape Clear expands ESB software, Microsoft bolsters hosted messaging, AmberPoint eases SOA management, Check Point boxes up security tools

CapeClear Software this week will release Cape Clear 6.5, an update to its ESB featuring an Eclipse-based toolset, support for security standards, and new clustering functions. Cape Clear 6.5’s Eclipse toolset includes enhanced BPEL, XML/WSDL, and Java development tools. Also new is support for WS-Security and WS-I basic security profile. Scalability improvements in Version 6.5 come via one-click clustering, which enables load-balancing and high availability for stateful BPEL processes.

Microsoft bolsters hosted messaging
Microsoft has upgraded its hosted collaboration service that offers SMBs enterprise-grade e-mail services, mobile data access, team Web sites, and online presence data. Available through service provider partners, Version 3.5 of the Microsoft Solution for Hosted Messaging and Collaboration features new mobile synchronization capabilities for devices running Windows Mobile 5.0. Also new are mobile security features for wiping data from devices that have been lost or stolen and setting up automated rules to help prevent access by unauthorized users.

AmberPoint eases SOA management
AmberPoint this week is announcing release 5.0 of the AmberPoint SOA management system. Evolving from its roots as a Web services management platform, the new release adds the capability to manage services as sets rather than individually. A new security subsystem also is featured, as is the capability to manage Enterprise JavaBeans and Java Message Service and database assets. Release 5.0 ships later this year and starts at $70,000.

Check Point boxes up security tools
Check Point Software Technologies is boiling down a mix of complex security technologies into a single appliance designed for easy installation and management. Shipping this month from the company’s SofaWare Technologies subsidiary, the Check Point Safe@Office 500 and Safe@Office 500W Unified Threat Management appliances offer firewall, anti-virus, intrusion prevention, VPN, and traffic monitoring features. The 500W appliance includes an integrated IEEE 802.11b/g Wi-Fi access point. Safe@Office 500 pricing starts at $299; 500W is priced at $449.
