CA opens product development center in India

Hyderabad home to CA's largest product development center outside the United States

CA opened a $30-million product development center in Hyderabad in south India on Wednesday.

The center has 1,600 employees, but can be expanded to house more staff, a spokesman for the company said.

The company already had its product development operations elsewhere in Hyderabad. CA president and CEO John Swainson inaugurated the new center.

The center is CA's largest product development center outside the United States, the spokesman said. More than 30 percent of the company's global R&D staff are now based in India, the company said.

Besides product development, the team at the center will work closely with a number of India's top-tier systems integrators to help them with in-house IT needs and those of private and public-sector customers worldwide, CA said.

A number of multinational technology companies are expanding in India, despite rising staff salaries and a shortage of skilled employees in the country.
