After months of work, Citrix has finally announced a Tech Preview version of the long-awaited Citrix Receiver for the Apple iPhone. The company has been teasing administrators with the mobile application for nearly a year, going so far as tempting us with live onstage demonstrations during Citrix events. The mobile application brings Windows apps running on XenApp 5 or newer directly to the mobile end-point device.

Now, the company announces version 0.9.0 of Citrix Receiver as it makes its appearance as a free download on Apple's iTunes App Store.
The application requires a Wi-Fi or 3G connection, Citrix XenApp and XenApp Web Services, and Windows applications hosted on Citrix XenApp. It works with Apple's iPhone and iPod Touch, but requires iPhone 2.2 Software Update. But the Technology Preview does not support the Citrix XenApp secure application access feature. Other than that, go for it!
To further improve the mobile experience, Citrix is also providing a new feature called Doc Finder that runs on XenApp that allows users to easily find, view, edit, and send documents. Citrix said that because the documents are hosted securely in the datacenter, nothing is downloaded and Doc Finder can provide fast, one-click access to all of your important files.
So what do you think? Are you going to use it? As a Citrix customer, how important is mobile management to you?
