IT Infrastructure Centralization

Project lead: Greg Levine, VP, Engineering and Data Processing Group

Project description: ADP centralized its IT operations into two identical datacenters, consolidating data processing operations, centralizing fragmented line-of-business operations into a utility computing infrastructure, and reducing its overall carbon footprint by 24,000 tons per year.

Real-Time Wireless Application Audit Service

Project lead: Richard Galbraith, Project Manager

Project description: Aflac extended real-time, wireless audit capabilities to sales associates, integrating Web services and the company's business processing system, TRACJ, as part of the insurer's ongoing SmartApp Next Generation initiative.

Project description: American Airlines unified its IVR (interactive voice response) system into a single platform, integrating software from Tellme with its customer database, flight operations, and reservations systems.

Project description: Anthony Marano built out its fixed mobile convergence infrastructure tapping technology from Avaya, Nokia, Meru, and Agito.

Content Management Overhaul

Project lead: Stephen Callahan, Director of Integrated Business Systems

Project description: The parent company to the University of Phoenix transitioned its legacy BPM system to EMC enterprise content management technology, migrating 30 million documents and integrating the new system with existing Oracle, PeopleSoft, and Kofax technology to support 300,000 students per year.

Virtual Mail Manufacturing Platform

Project description: AT&T migrated from a distributed, site-specific architecture to a single-source virtual mailing platform that enables load balancing across the company's mail manufacturing sites in California, Georgia, and Texas, featuring software developed in-house and technology from Bowe Bell + Howell, SAP, and the U.S. Postal Service.

Project description: Avnet leveraged its SOA to increase its ability to orchestrate supply and demand management, tapping multiple forecasting tools and demand management software from JDA, Web services, and its legacy ERP system.

Project description: BlueStar developed its NextStar SOA initiative to streamline and automate core business processes, including customer enrollment, provisioning, care, and billing, from the ground up, relying in large part on open source technologies.
