Zend Technologies (Profile, Products, Articles) announced Zend Platform (Overview, Articles, Company) 2 with enhanced application performance and simplified data synchronization. Zend Platform supports the application life-cycle of PHP applications. New features include session clustering to improve PHP application performance and response time; enhanced PHP Intelligence modules; and PHP configuration cloning across servers. Zend Platform 2 also improves multiuser support and makes the installation process easier. Zend Platform 2 is available now for Linux (Overview, Articles, Company) and will support Sparc Solaris, FreeBSD, and Mac OS later in the month. Single-processor server pricing is $995; a two (or more) processor server is priced at $1,495.

Panda offers enhanced protection against spyware, online fraud

Panda Software (Profile, Products, Articles) is launching new versions of Platinum 2006 Internet Security and Titanium 2006 Antivirus + Antispyware. The products include enhanced protection against spyware and phishing and detection of WiFi intrusions, as well as a new anti-malware detection engine that is faster and more efficient. The products will be available from retailers beginning in October and are available online immediately.

Macromedia (Profile, Products, Articles) offers new Web conferencing solutions

Macromedia announced it is combining its Macromedia Breeze Web conferencing solution with Avaya's (Profile, Products, Articles) Meeting Exchange audio conferencing product. The integrated solution, Macromedia Breeze Avaya Adapter, simplifies conferencing start-up by allowing Breeze users to automatically dial out to selected attendees. The product will be available by the end of September. In other Web conferencing news, Macromedia announced that Cisco Systems (Profile, Products, Articles) has licensed components of the Macromedia Flash Platform and Macromedia Breeze to integrate Flash-based Web conferencing into Cisco's portfolio of communications and conferencing offerings. Cisco's first product to include the Flash-based capability is Cisco MeetingPlace Express, an integrated audio and Web conferencing solution aimed at small and mid-size organizations.

Vendors collaborate on new SOA Maturity Model

Sonic Software (Profile, Products, Articles) has joined with AmberPoint (Profile, Products, Articles), BearingPoint, and Systinet (Profile, Products, Articles) to publish a new SOA Maturity Model (SOA MM) and launch a 10-city Management Forum tour designed to educate managers on maximizing the benefits of their SOA investments. The SOA MM provides detailed guidance to enable SOA leaders to establish multiyear SOA initiatives. It defines five levels of maturity, which SOA MM managers can use to determine the level their organizations are currently executing at, and also provides recommendations for setting management goals and identifies practices to help organizations advance to higher levels. Forrester analyst Randy Heffner and InfoWorld editors will be joining the vendors on the Management Forum series, which is scheduled from Sept. 20 to Oct. 13. Seminars will be held in New York; Parsippany, N.J.; Tyson's Corner, Va.; Philadelphia; Atlanta; Dallas; Chicago; Minneapolis; San Francisco; and Irvine, Calif. Bit9 helps solve the problem of unwanted software

Bit9 on Tuesday introduced new endpoint security software that detects and stops spyware, malware, and non-business applications on enterprise desktops, laptops, and servers. Bit9 Parity's Automatic Graylist technology tracks and controls new unknown software, enabling enterprises to control what is appropriate and approved for their infrastructure. A Find File capability performs network-wide, on-demand queries to quickly locate all instances of any executable across the enterprise in real time, giving customers real-time, network-wide visibility and protection from intrusions, including zero-day attacks, without relying on malware signatures or behavioral patterns. The Bit9 Parity Agent supports Windows XP, 2003, and 2000. Bit9 Parity will be available in the fourth quarter priced from $30 to $50 per host, with volume discounts available.

StrikeIron launches Web Services Marketplace

StrikeIron has announced the StrikeIron Web Services Marketplace, which is available as part of a new release of the StrikeIron Web Services Business Network. StrikeIron Marketplace simplifies the selling and buying of Web services, providing a complete self-publishing capability for providers and simplified authentication, subscription, and management capability for users. The StrikeIron Web Services Marketplace solution provides an online directory and infrastructure with commerce administration functions designed for accelerating the adoption of publicly available Web services, including purchasing, publishing, account management, billing, payment, security, and usage tracking.

Software AG (Profile, Products, Articles) enhances ApplinX legacy modernization software

Software AG announced its ApplinX legacy modernization software now supports the Eclipse integrated development environment (IDE) as well as the Fujitsu (Profile, Products, Articles)-Siemens (Profile, Products, Articles) BS2000/OSD operating system. ApplinX helps extend legacy applications and integrate them into Web services and SOA environments. The enhancements are aimed at making it easier to create components such as Web screens and Web services from legacy systems that can then be incorporated into environments such as Java, .Net, and enterprise portals. The new version of ApplinX also adds support for Arabic, Farsi, and Turkish.
